Here at the Hotel Edelweiss, we start the ski season in mid-November – so earlier than others – thanks to the guaranteed snow on the glacier.

Skiing holidays in Kaunertal

My Edelweiss occupies a central location between the perennially snowy Kaunertal Glacier, Fendels Winterberg, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis and other ski areas. The ski bus stops right outside the hotel and whisks guests comfortably off to the slopes, lifts and winter hiking trails.

No mass tourism – just a genuine winter experience with a strong connection to the region.

My Edelweiss winter in Kaunertal:


  • The Kaunertal Glacier ski area is approx. 26 km away. The ski bus is free of charge.

  • Further nearby ski areas include Winterberg Fendels, Serfaus–Fiss–Ladis and Nauders.
  • The ski bus stop is just 15 metres from the hotel.
  • Travel time to the lifts at the glacier and in Fendels is approx. 25–30 minutes.
  • The ski pass is valid at Winterberg Fendels and the Kaunertal Glacier ski area.
  • Bambini free pass:
  • Children under 8 ski free of charge at the Kaunertal Glacier and Winterberg Fendels.
  • Optional: Ski6 Pass – one ticket, six ski areas.
  • Sports shops and ski rental are available in Feichten, at the Kaunertal Glacier and in Fendels.

Cross-country skiing & skating

As “Tyrolean cross-country skiing specialists”, the region boasts 50 km of trails at various altitudes. The Kaunertal cross-country ski trail (8.3 km) leads directly past the Edelweiss and takes you on a varied loop through the valley. A barrier-free route is also available. Cross-country ski hire and courses are available.

Winter hiking & snowshoe touring

Hike directly from the hotel or travel comfortably by bus or car to the most beautiful winter trails. A short, idyllic circuit starts right next to the hotel and leads to Ögghöfe. If you want more, there are great routes in the Kaunergrat Nature Park – around the Nature Park House and in Fendels.

For tobogganers

Tobogganing fun on four natural toboggan runs in the valley. The floodlit Ögghöfe toboggan run starts and ends at the hotel. Trudge up on foot, zip down again on runners. Other runs in the area include the Verpeil toboggan run, the Falkauns toboggan run and the Fendels toboggan run (awarded the seal of approval for natural toboggan runs).

In the Nature Park and Glacier Region Kaunertal, several sports shops are available – in the valley, at the Kaunertal Glacier, and at the parking area of Winterberg Fendels.
